Cambodia Expands E-Filing of Trademarks in Response to COVID-19

The Department of Intellectual Property Rights of Cambodia has implemented new functions in its e-filing system to allow for online submission of most post-registration matters.

So as to reduce the need for in-person filings during the Covid-19 pandemic, the DIP urges applicants to make use of e-filing as much as possible. While e-filing of trademark applications has been possible since 2017, only now can the system handle renewals, affidavits of use, responses to refusals, and changes of agent. Other matters, including oppositions, invalidations, changes of address and search requests, cannot be handled online and thus must be submitted in paper to the DIP, which remains open for the time being, despite the pandemic. The system requires an account with the DIP and a local bank account, and is open only to domestic applicants and registered trademark agents.
