The databases of Cambodian patents and industrial designs were launched to the public on April 29, 2024. This is a very significant development, as information on applications and registrations were not yet consistently publicly available. The information that was published was often incomplete and out of date. The lack of publication was problematic, as it was required by the Patent Law and applicants were required to pay the applicable publication fees.

On 29 April 2024, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation with assistance of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) organized the national workshop on Cambodia Patent Design Database Launching and the National Public Awareness/Capacity Building Training on Online Services in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The national workshop was presided over by H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation and experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization.
With the assistance from WIPO, the Department of Industrial Property, Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation launched the databases with 1486 patent applications (including utility models) and 1205 industrial designs. Approximately a further 400 patent applications remain to be uploaded, which is expected to be completed in the coming months
Patent Official Gazettes
In addition, the Department of Industrial Property, Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation also launched the Official Gazettes for patent and utility models.
